Sacred Encounters
That every interaction will be experienced as a sacred encounter.

The sacred encounter is a profound expression of the SJHS mission and the healing ministry of Jesus in the tradition of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Orange through our commitment to the dignity of the person and to creating an environment characterized by compassion and care for the dear neighbor.

Sacred encounters as an expression of the mission is deeply rooted in the belief that all of life is sacred and that we are called to honor the dignity of every person in all that we do. We strive to do this by keeping at the forefront of our minds, the understanding of the impact we can have on one another with every action we take. We are inspired by the vision of what sacred encounters can bring to our daily work and experience at SJHS.

If we are successful in living this goal, we will then be a community living in such a way that others encountering us experience a revelation of life’s deepest truths – about human dignity, caring, compassion, suffering, debility, death, community, mystery, vulnerability, sacrifice, joy, trust and love. Persons will go forth more healed, more whole, better able to love and to hope.

Healthiest Communities
The communities we serve will be among the healthiest in our nation.

We believe that good health begins within our communities. SJHS is committed to promoting health improvement and supporting social initiatives that eliminate health disparities, improve access to care and protect the environment. Our goal is to ensure that the communities we serve are among the nation’s healthiest.

In our pursuit of this goal, we collect and analyze data on myriad demographic, socioeconomic, morbidity and health related behaviors in the communities we serve.  By collecting community health data, we are able to share our findings with other community organizations and develop evidence-based initiatives and programs in the communities we serve.

Perfect Care
All patients will receive perfect care.

Perfect care is about our unending quest to deliver the highest possible quality care that is patient-centered and evidence-based. We strive for the ultimate in all of our clinical performance and patient outcomes. Our attention to detail and the smallest imperfections of each patient’s experience drives a deeper understanding and ultimately a sustainable approach to the achievement of this goal.

The ingenuity of our people, the support of our partners and the philanthropic commitment from our communities powered this uncompromising pursuit of perfection that began in 2007. In striving to achieve perfect care for every patient we serve, efforts were continued to improve performance in all of our hospitals and to pursue excellence in clinical quality, patient safety and patient satisfaction.
