Sponsorship is the responsibility and moral accountablity for, support of, influence on and public identification with a project, progam, or entity.  When the St. Joseph Health System  was created in 1982, the elected leadership of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Orange exercised the responsibilities of sponsorship.

In May 2008, the sponsorship was transfered to St. Joseph Health Ministry,  a church corporation consisting of four individuals, commissioned by the founding sponsors.  The members of the St. Joseph Health Ministry are:

St. Joseph Health Ministry creates the opportunity for the sisters to enhance their long-standing partnership with the laity by including lay individuals join along with the Sisters in serving as SJHS sponsors.
