The ministries of the St. Joseph Health System consistently rank among the regional and national leaders for quality in the delivery of inpatient and outpatient care.  All SJHS hospital and home health entities are accredited by the Joint Commission and ten have received scores of 90 or better -- in many cases, with commendation.

For the third year in a row in 2009, the Gallup Organization awarded the St. Joseph Health System its highest honor– the Great Workplace Award -  for maintaining work environments where employees are consistently empowered and rewarded for providing excellent care.

Additional Quality Measures

Many SJHS ministries have been recognized for care quality by national quality assessment organizations including:

  • Redwood Memorial Hospital in Fortuna is one of only12 hospitals in the nation to be recognized as an "Exemplary Service Overall Best Performer 2007" by Avatar International Inc.

  • Queen of the Valley Medical Center was ranked as one of America's Best Hospitals by U.S. News and World Report.

  • St. Joseph Hospital - Orange achieved “Magnet” hospital designation for nursing excellence, the highest recognition in the nursing profession.

  • Covenant Health System was ranked #21 on Modern Healthcare’s list of outstanding employers in the health care industry.
